Goodbye Starlet

Goodbye Starlet are an indie rock 4 piece blending pop punk, grunge, emo, and folk, all with a uniquely Ōtautahi twist. They wrap up heartfelt, clever, and occasionally cheeky lyrics in crunchy instrumentals.

Goodbye Starlet began in 2023 as a collaboration between poet and performer Claudia Jardine, and sound designer turned corporate hack Phil Jones (Bat Face Girl, Love you to, Puzzlefoot). They were soon joined by drummer Hayden Slaughter (The Mulls, Matt Slaughter Band), who had just come off the release of the Mulls album ‘Slow TV’, and Saltbox audio engineer/bass player Ben Sinclair (Megahowler, Local Idiot, Matt Slaughter Band).

Goodbye Starlet are now releasing their first single: King of Ōpāwa (Come Back to the Party). A playful, chunky, and ever so slightly judgemental pop punk tune.

Solo project

Ōtautahi poet and writer Claudia Jardine has long had a disposition for songwriting and all things musical, a journey stretching from her early formative years into the depths of semi-transitory adulthood. Having a promising start topping Rockquests-a-plenty in her teenage years led Jardine to releasing an effectual pop-folk EP North in 2019, a slot at the irreverent Welcome to Nowhere festival and various local performances over the years.

Always lyrically inclined and enjoying the sublime nature of words and sounds, Jardine has worked with pen and strings since basically forever; an orbit she continues with her new band, Goodbye Starlet.
